Education

Completing PhD this year in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. I have a MA in political science from UPenn and another MA in International Relations from the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. I was a double major in philosophy (top honors) and government at the University of Virginia. My background is multidisciplinary and my teaching methods designed to invigorate the teaching environment in ways which are suited to the classroom and individual students. My GPA's have always been in the A range although GPA's stop being used as a proper measure of accomplishments later on in PhD programs where winning scholarships/grants and doing conference papers are more important.

Experience

I have taught and tutored students on a regular basis since starting my PhD in 2002. Subjects I have been an instructor for are as follows: Intro to Political Science, Modern Political Theory, Ancient Political Theory, Comparative Politics, Politics of the Developing World, South Asian Politics, Gender Theory, Women's politics and Development, Human Rights in Theory and Practice, poetry writing and development. I have also worked as a university-level counselor for undergraduate and graduate students in need of helping to plan out and brainstorm their academic careers in active and analytically useful settings.

Hobbies

Hobbies range from my academic interests to a love of reading and writing poetry, a love of excellent music and literature, hobbies which include playing multiple sports whenever possible--including soccer, squash, basketball, rock climbing (indoor and outdoor) and power yoga. I'm laid back and intense when it comes to learning--and believe above all else that creative and imaginative environments are the best settings for teaching students to not only love learning as a process, but successfully excel in the subjects they are being tutored for or taking classes in.
